Winter Break Boredom Busters

A quick "bucket list" for time off from school!

By Melissa Hucal December 19, 2014
Sure the first few days of winter break will be filled with lots of family get-togethers and maybe even a visit from Santa, but then what?

Yes, there will be time to play with new toys, read new books and just "hang out." But we've also come up with a short "bucket list" of activities - some at home and some out - for you to do during your time off. It's designed to keep the kids (and you!) from getting too bored and also give you a few things to look forward to after the holidays have passed.

Campout under the lights. One night, during the week between Christmas and New Year's, drag out the blankets and pillows and set up your sleeping quarters next to the Christmas tree. Of course, the lights will stay on all night! And because there may be some uncertainty about how much actual sleeping will happen that night, deem the following day "Pajama Day" - to include lots of movies, books, snacks and naps!

Build a snowman (inside if there is no snow). If there's snow on the ground, bundle up and head outside. But even if there's not enough of the white stuff outside, you can still build this adorable snowman family indoors!

Make a holiday memory book. Over the past month, you've most likely created so many holiday memories - cookie parties, Santa visits, decorating, gifts … Let your kids capture what was most special to them in a special memory book. Won't it be fun to look back on it next year?

Take a Winter Walk. Who says that it has to be warm for a hike around an area park? Explore winter in your community as you stroll neighborhoods or trails.

Now it's your turn! What other plans do you have for you and your mini-Macaronis during the break? Let us know by using the commenting function below!
