The Dali Museum exhibits The Collection from the artist Salvador Dali’s (1904-1989). The Collection includes oil paintings, original drawings, book works, prints, sculpture, photos, manuscripts, and an extensive archive of documents.

The Dali Museum is also exhibiting The Collection of Pablo Picasso. This exclusive collection will only be at the Dali Museum from November 8th - February 16th and at the Museu Picasso, Barcelona from March 19-June 28, 2015.

On November 23rd my husband, two friends, and I visited The Dali Museum. I was in complete awe when I entered the Dali exhibit. Here I saw paintings such as Basket of Bread, Daddy Longlegs of the Evening, Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea, and Eggs on the Plate without the Plate. One of my favorites in this collection was Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea. This painting becomes Abraham Lincoln when looking at it through a lens. Another one that I favored was Eggs on the Plate without the Plate. In this painting, the artist remembers his existence in the womb. The string represented an umbilical cord and the egg symbolizes an embryo.

The collection of Pablo Picasso included Compoteir/Frutero (Fruit Dish), self-portrait (Pablo Picasso made when he was an adolescent), and Olga Picasso.

The Dali and Picasso collections showed the influence both artist had on each other. And how they were both impacted by the events in their time. Their relationship was one of influence and rivalry.

We all had a fabulous time at the Dali Museum. I feel fortunate to have been able to view such magnificent pieces of art.
