Our Family Trip to MOSI

July 14, 2014
I received media passes from MOSI for this review.

Museum of Science and Industry provides two buildings for families to enjoy. In the main building on the first floor you would find one of the largest dinosaurs ever discovered. Sauropods weighed about forty tons but had a tiny brain. They were herbivores with long necks (reaching as high as five stories) which allowed them to reach food high up in the trees. Their long tails helped them to balance their very long necks. This massive display reaches three stories with a total combined length of approximately 150 feet.

My family took a few pictures with the dinosaur exhibit as the background.

On the second floor my girls enjoyed Disasterville. In this 10, 0000 square foot exhibit the children would experience extreme weather conditions such as tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires and other natural disasters.

The third floor in the main building held the exhibit "The Amazing You, an Exhibition of the Human Body." Here the girls learned about the human body from DNA to organs. My girls (8 years old and 4 years old) learned about the beginning of life through death. They also learned about medical conditions and diseases which occur at different developmental stages of life. (FYI In this exhibit there was a video of a mother giving birth and specimens of babies in plastic cylinder shape containers.)

In the "Exhibit Galleries" second building, you will find a playground full of scientific hand-on activities. My daughters enjoyed playing tug of war with their dad while learning about physics. Experiencing what it would be like to climb through caves. Their favorite activity was the exhibit that looked like a spider web. They both had to wear wrist bands that were attached to a cord. The girls had to figure out how to get from one side of the "web" to the other by going over and under the cords. They also loved to sit on the wheel chair and try to get from one side to the other while encountering some challenges.

My family enjoyed a day at MOSI.
